You will be responsible for mechanical maintenance across a large-scale paper mill operation in Southern Chicago, keeping critical industrial machinery running safely and efficiently. Day-to-day, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy industrial equipment — the kind of large, complex machinery found in paper mills, steel mills, and oil rigs — working on rotating DuPont 12-hour shifts covering both days and nights (with some day staff positions also available). This is hands-on, high-stakes maintenance work in a demanding industrial environment, and your ability to operate confidently around large-scale paper machines and comparable equipment will be central to your success in the role.
- 3+ years of millwright or heavy industrial mechanical maintenance experience - Background in paper mills, steel mills, or oil rigs — corrugated or light packaging experience alone will not be considered - Proven ability to maintain and repair large-scale industrial machinery (e.g. paper machines or equivalent) - Comfortable working rotating DuPont 12-hour shifts, including nights - Based in or able to commute to Southern Chicago — this is a fully on-site role with no remote or travel component - Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis skills in a heavy industrial setting
- Prior experience in a union environment - Familiarity with paper mill-specific equipment and processes - Any relevant millwright trade certification or apprenticeship completion - Experience working within a large multi-site industrial operation
